chartists
Pattern-reading investors
Chartists are people who analyze price charts to predict future market movements.
In investing, chartists study patterns in stock prices, trading volumes, and other graphical data rather than examining company fundamentals: The chartists saw a head-and-shoulders pattern forming.
Also called technical analysts. (Capitalized Chartists were 19th-century British reformers.)
