A cart corral is a designated area in a parking lot where shoppers return shopping carts after loading their vehicles.
Usually a fenced-off rectangle with metal rails, it keeps carts from rolling loose and damaging cars: Just leave the cart in the corral.
Also called a cart return or cart bay.
