yanked around
Treated like puppet
To be yanked around is to be jerked from one position to another, literally or figuratively.
The phrase usually describes being manipulated, deceived, or treated inconsistently by someone in a position of power: I've been yanked around by this company for months—first they say I'm hired, then they ghost me.
The image is of being pulled roughly in different directions without consideration.
