ungripped
No longer holding
Ungripped means released from a grip, or never gripped in the first place.
A hand ungripped lets go of what it was holding: His fingers slowly ungripped the railing.
In golf and other sports, an ungripped club lacks the rubber or leather covering on the handle.
Figuratively, something ungripped has loosened its hold: Fear had finally ungripped her chest.
