forget about

Put behind you

Forget about is a phrasal verb with two distinct uses.

The first intensifies forget: Forget about your troubles and enjoy the party.

The second dismisses something as impossible or not worth considering: Forget about getting a reservation—that place is booked for months.

In this dismissive sense, it often stands alone as an interjection: A raise this year? Forget about it.
