festival seating
No assigned spots
Festival seating is a concert or event arrangement where the floor area has no assigned seats—attendees stand or sit on the ground, positioning themselves on a first-come basis.
The term gained notoriety after a 1979 stampede at a Who concert in Cincinnati killed eleven people, leading many venues to restrict or ban the practice.
