Programs and impacts

Current programs

We make word games about meaning (not spelling). Our puzzles are powered by the Linguabase, a semantic network we built over a decade.
In Other Words — Pathfinding through semantic space. Navigate from one word to another through clouds of related words. Each puzzle has over a million valid solutions.
OtherWordly — Recognition and inference. Identify words from context and fragments. Space-themed arcade game with 100 levels and 30,000+ unique words.
Linguabase — The semantic network powering both games. 1.5 million words, 100 million weighted relationships. Combines human-curated word lists with Library of Congress classifications from 17 million books.

Prior programs

Before games, we worked on informal learning and information visualization—online museums, interactive tools, and partner projects.
SpicyNodes (2006–2016) — Radial visualization platform for navigating complex information. 40 million users, 315,000 creators, $2.4M revenue.
WebExhibits (1999–2012) — One of the first online museums. Ten interactive exhibits on science, art, and culture. 110 million visitors.
Older projects — ColoRotate, WikiNodes, national clocks, partner work with nonprofits, museums, universities, and government agencies.
